1、介词beside作“在...旁边”讲，可引申为“比起来”，“和...无关”等，如their discussion is beside the question他们的讨论离题了
2、介词besides作“除...之外，还“讲， 如besides that he drove the car, he repaired it on the way to beijing 他不仅驾驶了这辆车，而且在赴京途中还对它进行了修理
3、副词besides作”此外“，”况且“讲，如the second-hand car he bought was almost new. besides, it was in excellent condition他买的那辆二手车几乎是新的，而且运行状况极佳
4、besides和except在汉语都译为"除...之外”但含义有差别，如all went to beijing last year except smith.除史密斯外，其他人去年都去北京了，all went to beinjing last year besides smith，除史密斯外，去年他们也都去北京了
5、若besides 与否定句连用，则表示除...外不再有...之意，可与except互换，如there is nothing on the table besides a floppy disk,桌上只有一个软盘
6、最后要知道beside一般只作介词用，而besides除了可作介词用外，还可当副词用，当副词时译为此外，所以在写文章时，我们一定不要把s给省略或忘记了
